The Cookhouse/ Former Slave Cabin
The little cookhouse behind the Force House was moved from its former location on South Orange Avenue where the Livingston Mall is currently located. It stood for many years as part of the former Williams farm and was built as a slave cabin, and later was converted into a "cooking house" on the Ira Condit farm. It is one of the oldest buildings in Livingston. After the move, it was completely restored by the Kiwanis Club of Livingston, the Livingston Historical Society, and the Township management.
Located at 366 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039, it is open for tours given by members of the Society from 2 pm-4 pm usually every second Sunday of the month during March-June and September-December. See Calendar page for specific dates.
